About Price Tag Daily
Price data you can check yourself.
How the numbers are checked
Before anything posts, automated checks recompute every figure from the saved agency data, require the margin of error on Census survey figures, and block lines that claim a cause or tell readers what to do. When the difference between two survey estimates isn't statistically significant (Census's 90% test), we say the data does not separate them.
Sources
- Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS): consumer prices (CPI) and average prices
- U.S. Census Bureau: American Community Survey (rent and income)
- U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), Economic Research Service: Food Price Outlook forecasts
Each chart names its agency and data month; the chart's page lists every table or series ID. Agencies revise data; when a revision changes a number we published, we note it.
Numbers, not recommendations
Not financial advice: we show what the numbers are, not what to do about them. The charts don't recommend any action. Most agency data doesn't say why a price moved, so neither do we.
Charts and text are made with AI from official U.S. government data.
